About the Podcast
Behind the masks we wear, many of us are asking the same questions
For over twenty years, the Centre for Men and Families has sat with men in circles and heard their stories — their grief, their doubts, their breakthroughs, their shame. Men Like Me is the podcast we’ve been wanting to make the whole time: real men telling real stories about real issues that people don’t usually talk about, because silence helps no one and honesty is the first step towards change.
Each episode is a long-form interview with an Australian man willing to speak openly about something most of us keep hidden — addiction, infidelity, failure, fatherhood, grief, abuse, mental health, faith. No polished version. No performance. Just the stuff underneath.
“When you hear another man’s story, something happens. You begin to see a bit of your own story in his.”
What You’ll Hear
The conversations most men don’t get to have
Addiction & recovery
Gambling, alcohol, substance use, and the behaviours that quietly take over. What it costs. What recovery actually looks like.
Relationships & betrayal
Infidelity, separation, betrayal trauma, and what it takes to face the truth and rebuild.
Abuse & violence
Experiences rarely spoken about — including men on the receiving end of domestic violence.
Mental health & shame
Depression, suicidal ideation, and the silence that keeps men isolated long after they need help.
Fatherhood & identity
Who we are as fathers, sons, husbands, and friends — and what happens when that identity cracks open.
Faith, failure & turning points
The moments that change a man — the losses, the reckonings, and what comes next.
